Popular Science: How to Troubleshoot a Screw Feeder

A screw feeder—as one of the core components of an automatic screw-driving machine—performs the screening and conveying of screws during the fastening process. It is no exaggeration to say that a good screw feeder plays a decisive role in screw-driving operations and can greatly increase production efficiency. However, during production, foreign matter or defective screws in the batch, or improper use by operators, may cause feeder faults that prevent normal screw delivery. For this reason, Danikor provides users of screw-driving equipment with common faults and their troubleshooting methods.

Feeder does not start when power is turned on
When the screw feeder is powered on but shows no response and does not operate, first check whether the power cord is firmly inserted. If the cord is connected and the signal lamp is lit, the cause is probably one of the following two conditions:

  1. Too many screws have been placed in the hopper, exceeding the level of the guide rail, so the brush and rail cannot move normally. Remove some screws to free up space for rail operation.

  2. If the hopper does not contain excessive screws yet the machine still will not run, the infrared sensor may be faulty or blocked by foreign matter. When the sensor fails or is blocked, it sends the controller a signal that screws are still on the turntable; the feeder then stops running.

Screws cannot slide out of the track
If screws fail to slide out of the track, the problem may be caused by one of the following reasons:

  1. The track gap does not match the screw size. Simply adjust the gap between the left and right track plates so that screws can slide through smoothly.

  2. The gate opening is too small, preventing screws from entering the dispensing mouth. Adjust the vertical size of the gate so screws can pass through. Do not make the opening too large, or other screws may fall directly into the gate when the hopper rotates and cause jamming.

  3. The vibration motor is not running, so screws cannot move along the track. In this case, the vibration motor must be replaced
