Automatic O-Ring Installation on Screws During Tightening

For products that demand strict sealing performance, adding an O-ring while driving the screw is essential. To achieve this step fully automatically and at minimal cost, Danikor offers an innovative, single-station solution.

  1. O-ring feeding
A 1-to-2 flexible vibratory bowl gently singulates O-rings. A vision system locates each ring, and a quick-change gripper picks it up and places it onto a spreading mandrel.

  2. Screw feeding
The same feeder now presents screws. After the mandrel has expanded the O-ring, the gripper is swapped (via the quick-change module) for a tightening female head that picks up the screw—again guided by vision.

  3. Assembly & tightening
The screw is moved under the expanded O-ring; precision mechanics and vision align the ring to the screw’s shank base. The screwdriver then drives the screw to the programmed torque.

Benefits

  • One station, two operations: eliminates two separate machines, saving floor space and capital.

  • Zero manual intervention: vision and quick-change tooling ensure cycle-to-cycle repeatability.

  • Compact footprint: ideal for space-restricted lines.

Danikor’s solution merges feeding, positioning, and tightening into a single, cost-effective cell—accelerating automation upgrades for sealing-critical assemblies.
